What to do, what to do???

I have been pondering this for several months, 6 or 7 to be exact. I have this empty spot above the interior doors we put in when we built on this room. I'll show you the old side first. The side is my dining area....
These doors used to be patio doors that went out to a deck. Now, it goes to my new family room, which I LOVE! Anyway, on the other side, this is what it looks like...
But the doors are open most of the time, so it looks like this...
Now, this is the problem area....
I feel like I need something up there. My hubby does not. I bought this vinyl saying...
I thought it was the answer, but then, I saw this sign and bought it on a whim.
And that was about 7 months ago. I keep looking at it but nothing happens. What to do, what to do????

  1. How about a small ledge shelf above the door where you can layer some picture frames (and include your "Home" art, or leave it out and put the vinyl up) and a few candles or other accessories? (And you could put a little lip on the shelf like you did with your picture shelf, so things won't fall off)

  2. Thanks for you lovely comment - I agree with the previous post. I would make a gallery of sorts. Not sure about the ledge - I am horrible at dusting!

  3. I like the idea of using the vinyl quote! I think it could be great. :) You should think about linking this up to my Decorating Dilemmas party next month to get some more feedback. I like the shelf idea too! Thanks for the visit. :)

  4. I love the idea of the vinyl home quote. It's such a beautiful way to frame the entry and the first pic with the quote above the door looks cozier than the pic of the doors open without it. Just my style tho - usually not shared with the hubs. I say put it up!

  6. well, hang it up there! Maybe some lace panels on the oposite side of your heart wreaths. needs a little texture or something. but then again, things do look so different on these little blog pictures....

thanks for the sweet comment on my blog (dresser repaint) Sugar and Spice. I've been inspired myself by taking part in these linkys. I've been exposed to some great ideas. I had to launch into a great whole house makeover. but it was much needed after the long midwest winter!
