I was blessed to get a surprise this weekend. My dear mother-in-law gave me this trunk.
It was my husbands grandfathers. It has to be very old. It measures 3ft long, 20 inches wide, and 1ft high. The inside is not in good shape but the outside is in pretty good shape aside from the leather straps are missing that went around it and buckled. My very first thought was "coffee table" but it is only 1ft high. Now I don't know what to do with it, but I love it and want to use it somehow.
I need your help, please give me any ideas you have for what to do with it. I will appreciate any suggestions.
Oh wow. I love those old steamer trunks. I had a friend whose dad had a bunch in his basement that he'd never opened! Can you believe that!! I'll be thinking and let you know if I can come up with anything...
ReplyDeleteWhat about painting it white? ABeachCottage.com painted a trunk white and it came out lovely! Thanks for your comment!
ReplyDeleteI love that, I would love to have it for a prop for pictures... I could just imagine one of my boys sitting in it! Good luck with it. To answer your question, to link to a post, click on the post title and then just copy url in the address bar. Put that into mclinky. Hopes that helps and hope to see you back next week for Motivate me Monday!

Thank you for the award Brooke! And what a great trunk! Maybe you can figure a way out to give it some height and still use it as a coffee table?? You know legs of some sort... something that maybe didn't actually have to 'attach' to the trunk but that it can sit on. Check out this trunk with legs... http://www.cjhomeandoffice.com/bt57670.html
ReplyDeleteHow about turning it on its end, putting a piece of glass on it, and using it as an end table/plant stand table?
ReplyDeleteThe trunk is gorgeous, you are so lucky. You could use it as storage under your current coffee table or find another one or two (I know this sounds easier than it is) and stack them to get the right height. xx
