Closet organizing

My daughter saw this in a friends closet and I thought it was the greatest thing ever. If you have a daughter or even for yourself you know that all the jewelry, necklaces and bracelets can be a real problem. What do we do with them and how do we keep them from tangling. Well, this isn't the prettiest, that's why you put it in the closet, but it is very good at keeping things organized.

I got this pegboard at Home Depot. You can buy it in a 2x4 sheet or larger. It even comes painted white. I cut it myself with my trusty tablesaw but you can have them cut it for you there. Measure the spot you have to put it so you know what size to cut it. Then you need to buy some hooks to put in the holes. There are many different sizes and shapes. Get what is best for what you need to organize.

I was so excited to see that long one with all the hooks, it is perfect for necklaces.

It needs to hang away from the wall about an inch so that you can put the hooks through the holes. So I used a one inch by one inch strip of wood on the back, at the top and the bottom.

Then hang it up and organize away, you'll love it.

Ribbon lampshade

This was a fun and easy project. I already had these lamps, and I like them. When I changed my bedspread and curtains the ivory shade didn't look right. I went on the hunt for a red shade but couldn't find one that fit my lamp or I didn't like them.
I just happened to have some of this pretty ribbon from Christmas. I decided to rap the ribbon around the shade, but vertically not horizontally. It was easy with my trusty glue gun. I cut strips and glued them at the top and bottom of the shade. I overlapped alot at the top and not very much on the bottom. (Because the top of the shade is smaller than the bottom.)
I got about halfway done and ran out of ribbon. (Not Good!) I ran to Rod Works, where I had purchased it in the first place and LUCKILY they had enough for me to finish.
I think it looks better, don't you?

New Bedroom

Well, as I said, I am new at this and until I get the hang of this things are going to be screwed up.

Now, here are some pic's of my new room.

My dear spouse said as long as I didn't paint I could change a few things. Well, as you know, when you start then the domino effect happens. But, I haven't painted, although I know that to really make things great a new paint color is needed. Maybe later.

The "old" bedroom was monochromatic. After a while you just need some color and a change.

Over the next few weeks I will show some of the details and projects in the room, just for fun.

My bedroom project

My dear husband sometimes wonders what he was thinking marrying a decorating fanatic. I do like to change things once in a while and once in a while is always to soon for him. I needed a change in the bedroom, it has been a good 7 or 8 years, it was time. Here are some pic's.

Getting started

I am new at this blogging thing. I have been told over and over I needed to start a blog but haven't taken the time.
I hope to share some ideas and fun projects that keep me entertained and busy.
My creative release is decorating and organizing and lately I have had alot of time for both.
I'll share what I can and hopefully someone will benefit from it somehow.
