Out in the garage I found some scrap wood and went to work. I cut a 1x4 long enough to fit under my cabinet that holds all my craft supplies. It was about 35 inches. From another scrap piece I cut two ends and rounded one side using a can to make the curve.
After I cut the rounded ends there were these triangular pieces left over. So I thought I would use them for the pieces that will support the dowel.
I used a 3/8" drill bit to make the half circle notches in the supports. (That is what the dowel will sit down into.)
After gluing and nailing the ends on, I just used glue to put the triangle supports on. Then I used screws to attach it under the cabinet.
I did have to purchase a 3/8" dowel. I Slid the rolls of ribbon on and look what I have...
Now, I haven't painted it because I am still holding out for a laundry room makeover. I didn't know what color to paint it. I left it unfinished but hopefully soon I will be doing a makeover on that room. I can paint it then.
What do you do with your ribbon?

Ooh I love that-- I sooo need that to hold vinyl! My vinyl gets crushed and it's super frustrating. Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for using that void space under the laundry room cabinets. Totally relate to you on wanting a laundry room makeover :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is a great idea that I need to try because my ribbon is in a box on my shelf, but it gets tangled sometimes, cause I have a lot! Thanks for the idea (:
ReplyDeleteLove it!! I need to email this post to my husband so that he can make me one. ;) Great job! I'm visiting from Hope Studios' Tutorial Tuesday. Hope you'll stop by my blog to say hi. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that!! I was just saying (to myself) that I'm going to have to come up with a way to organize my ribbon.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great, easy way to display/organize ribbon! I'm looking for ideas for me new craft room and I'm going to steal this one for sure!
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice and you made it yourself. That's great. I store my ribbons in a decorative glass jar. I thought about doing an organizer your way but I don't have a spot that would be perfect for one that takes up more room.

Wow! You are very crafty. I could not begin to cut out wood like that. Love it! Thanks for following me. I'm trying to return the favor but it keeps saying "server not found." I'll keep coming back to see if the follow section comes up. Happy Friday!

ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me.
This is a really neat project! I could definately use one of these!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific idea! It's got me wondering if I could put one under my desk....
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea!! I am DYING to have a laundry room make over too. But, I have finally talked my husband into the guest bathroom, so it looks like the laundry is going to have to wait.
